Our condolences to you and your family. I often refer to your father's Encyclopedia of Herbs and the Basil book, and I always learn something new. Thank you for keeping his legacy going, we are customers for life.

Tom was a great man with extensive knowledge and loved to learn as well as share. I enjoyed the Arlington "greenhouse" in the backyard while it was there and then looked forward every year to several trips to Chantilly. I have introduced many friends to DeBaggio's over the years and purchased and gave friends his autographed herb books. We are all a little sadder for ourselves to have lost a great soul. Wishing your family the best, now and always.

years ago, when i worked in virginia, i found the arlington store, and tom was the one who started me on gardening and real cooking... i live near annapolis, and i (and friends who live nearby) still drive out to chantilly every year for our plants... i was there today... i have such warm memories, and i'm glad that his pain is over...

Hello Francesco:
Many years ago, I interviewed your father on the phone for an article in the Johns Hopkins Memory Bulletin about his travails with AD and how he worked so hard to get his words from brain to paper.
He was an inspiration to all who read his two books and got to read about him in the newspaper (and the Bulletin) or listen to him on the radio.
I am sorry for your loss. While we certainly don't come with "check out dates," your father left this earth way too soon!

My sincerest condolences to you all. I just wrote an e-mail to my old friend who remembers when I got my first rosemary plant in Arlington decades ago! The Economist obituary is magnificent. See you soon--this time for geraniums, but I'll bet I won't be able to pass up the rosemary!

I remember the joy i felt whenever I walked into the greenhouse in Arlington eighteen years ago. I still benefit from the wisdom that Tom imparted in his unique way and have many of the original lavender plants I got back then. He will be deeply missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Tom passing away. He created a terrific business. My sister, Nancy, who introduced me to DeBaggio's Herb Farm, passed away about a year and half ago. She, like Tom, passed away at a much too young age.

I followed Mr. DeBaggio's Nursery from Arlington to Chantilly. Every Christmas I stopped by the Arlington nursery to buy rosemary for my friends. Today, as I look at the many varieties of lavender and rosemary in my garden I think of it as a memorial to Mr. DeBaggio. His life was such a gift to us all.
