We have very fond memories of the herb farm during the on-set of spring. We would research the types
of herbs and tomatoes we wanted to plan each year and our first stop would be DeBaggio's. We started
out as young gardeners and still consider ourselves as such, even though years have passed since we
first met Tom. We have moved away and are now living in New Mexico. Even though we moved away about
five years ago, we still talk about DeBaggio's and our trips from our home in Chantilly to the farm.
We will never forget Tom and what he did to open our minds and eyes to the wonder of plants and
spring.

My condolences to your family. What a wonderful legacy Mr. DeBaggio is leaving. Each spring, my
husband slowly meanders around in the "tomato room" trying to decide which beauty to take
home, while I grab beautiful heirloom plants, knowing whatever we plant will be enjoyed. More
tomatoes than two people could ever eat, but our neighbors are happy to receive the surplus. We look
forward to visiting the greenhouse when it opens this spring, and hope you continue Mr. DeBaggio's
great work. Thanks for providing a very valuable resource to those of us still interested in herbal
and garden history.

My condolences to your family. I'm sorry your dad - and your family - had to suffer the ravages of
Alzheimer's. I'm grateful to him and to you all for your wonderful herb farm and nursery.

I was so sorry to hear about the death of your father. I was an eager visitor to the nursery every
spring for a number of years until I left the D.C. area about 7 years ago. Loved the beutiful
fragrant herbs I found there and found Mr. DeBaggio to be a wonderful tutor in the art of herb
growing. My thoughts are with you.

Gary worked for Tom in the greenhouse and they became friends. We remember lunching with Tom and
Joyce at a Greek restaurant. Good food and great company. Tom left his mark and will not be
forgotten.

We treasured Mr. DeBaggio, whose life was a gift to us all. We first encountered him in the
Arlington nursery, and became devotees -- of the man and his plants and herbs. Remembered with
fondness.

I remember Tom from his days as a journalist here in Arlington, at a time when his wife, Joyce, and
I both had studios at the Arlington Arts Center. No Spring is complete without a pilgramage to the
Greenhouse, originally on Ivy Street, and then in Chantilly. A remarkable person who will be
greatly missed.

We are no longer growing any plants. Listings are for information only. Last seed source listed after some of the plants is the company from which I last purchased the seeds. I make no guarantee that a variety is still available from that company or that there aren't other sources. Plants with no source either were not grown from seed (most likely) or the seed is not commercially available.
